Valentines’ Day - Love On The World’s Rivers!
Love will be in the air on Monday, February 14, 2022, so I want to share a very special river cruise company with you, AMAWaterways.
If you haven’t heard of AMAWaterways you might be saying to yourself, well that is an odd name, but when you get down the heart of it, it’s not such an odd name at all because the word AMA is actually a variation of the Latin word “LOVE”. And, LOVE, is at the heart and soul of everything AMAWaterways does.
In fact, from the beginning, their goal was to create a river cruise company that the owners themselves would enjoy, which meant the highest-quality, locally sourced food and wine; elegantly appointed ships with staterooms offering maximum views to enjoy the ever-changing countryside.
Although they have definitely succeeded at reaching their goals, and these are some of the reasons AMAWaterways is one of my personal favorites, the real magic, the cherry-on-the-top magic, is the crew. This is where the LOVE is, from the captain and cruise director, to the stateroom and dining crew, they all go above and beyond, treating EVERY guest like they are a part of their family. I mean, who doesn’t like being greeted with a big smile while being remembered by name? It’s a special touch that will make you feel at home, and trust me, you will not want to disembark the ship at the end of your river cruise journey.
There are many ways little ways that AMAWaterways ensures that their guests feel special while onboard, and one of my favorites, is that in most destinations the staterooms that are occupied by female guests receive beautiful AMAWaterways’ scarves. I just love this! Instead of the typical mementos, like a tote bag, Kristin Karst, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of AMAWaterways wanted to do something different, and since 2013, a new scarf color and design has been introduced every year, giving repeat guests a chance to collect up to 8 distinct accessories, to date.
And what a thoughtful gift because it can provide warmth on a flight or a brisk day ashore, or add beauty to dinner attire. Not to mention, they fold flat, which makes them easy to pack and bring home. But best of all, it’s a thoughtful gift that will continuously remind you of the love and magic you experienced during your river cruise vacation, long after you’ve returned home.
I grew up watching The Love Boat and couldn’t wait for the next episode. It was a show that allowed us to dream of travel and romance, and through all the laughter and drama that each episode brought we came to adore each and every character, they became like family that we couldn’t wait to see each week. Now you may not have the crazy drama on an AMAWaterways River Cruise, but I think you’ll agree that after disembarking an AMAWaterways sailing you will feel like you’re a part of the AMA family, and that is why AMAWaterways is the new “Love Boat” in ever sense of the word and now wears the “Love Boat” crown❤️.
